About Me...

If you’ve seen my home page, you know the basics:  I’m a writer, voice actor and storytelling coach.  But what exactly does that mean and how did I get here?  Well, I’ll let my spiffy 3rd person bio fill in the details.  Enjoy… and see you at the end.

Tom Crehan has been a creative writer since the age of six.  Unfortunately much of his early work has been lost due to a lack of crayon preservation technology.  Today, Tom works in other media but he’s still telling stories.  A veteran of both the corporate and Hollywood worlds, Tom has 20 years of experience as a writer, producer and story development executive.

Tom served as a staff writer on the first two seasons of MTV’s Undressed, helping to launch that show as a solid hit and fan favorite.  He then tried his hand at original series and sold TV pilots to companies such as Paramount, Showtime, MTV and Nickelodeon.

In 2008, Tom created the wild reality competition show Hurl for G4 Network.  In addition to writing and producing he hosted, narrated and performed additional voice acting on the edgy and satirical Hurl… a show the New York Times called “quixotically brave.”

Since 2011, Tom has worked regularly on shows for HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel as a writer, story editor and narrator.  Last year he served up a pair of “Best Of” specials for Food Network (Cutthroat Kitchen and Chopped) and just wrapped his fourth season as the voice of HGTV’s You Live in What?

Tom continues to write for Hollywood and is currently penning both original series and motion picture projects.  When he’s not immersed in action-adventure, fantasy and science fiction, he’s plotting his long-overdue children’s book and working on creative copywriting projects for clients such as Sony Pictures, MGM and Paramount.

Tom is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and is a graduate of the prestigious Warner Bros. Comedy Writers Workshop.

That’s basically it.  I play with words.  I tell stories.  I have a lot of fun.

I split my time between writing original works, writing for clients, and doing VO.  And I LOVE that I can pursue my goals from just about anywhere on the planet. Have laptop; will travel.

So, please take a look around my site.  If you’re a fan of something I’ve done, if you like a resource I linked, or if you want me for one of your projects… please let me know!  And though I’ve optioned a few scripts recently, I might have one more in the bottom drawer if you happen to be, you know, a Hollywood producer with a development fund.

Lastly, here are a few more random personal details that don’t quite fit in The Bio:  I love travel, soccer, traveling for soccer, and college football.  I’ve lived near the ocean my whole life.  I’ve been to five World Cups.  I once worked in a fish cannery.  I speak (sometimes passable) French.  I think the Special Olympics are totally awesome.  I have visited five of the seven continents and WILL hit the last two soon.  I once rode a jetski from Catalina Island to the mainland alone.  It was the dumbest thing I’ve done in my life.  Following my passion as a storyteller is the smartest.
